Vehicle breakdowns and animals on the road

Learn to Drive Smart · LTDS-2026-03 · Chapter 8 · Vehicle breakdowns

Tire blowout. A front blowout pulls the vehicle towards the flat tire, especially at speed; a rear one can start a skid. Keep a firm grip on the wheel, do not brake suddenly — ease off the accelerator and slow gradually, braking gently only once the speed is down — steer where you want to go, then signal or use hazard lights and pull off as soon as it is safe.
