Pulling into a lane — whether from the roadside or from the lane beside you — means the vehicles already in that lane have the right-of-way. The gap has to be big enough that the driver you pull in front of does not have to slow down. Watch for bicycles and motorcycles, which close faster than they look. Signalling a lane change is a legal requirement, not a courtesy.
