Controlled and uncontrolled intersections

A controlled intersection has signs or traffic lights telling road users what to do. An uncontrolled one has neither. Both need the same caution, for opposite reasons: at a controlled intersection other drivers may not be watching the signs, and at an uncontrolled one nobody has been told anything at all.
